Self-Awareness Initiative
For Teens (SAIFT)
Teens are at a very transitional, and thus vulnerable, phase of life -- with plenty of potential for destructiveness AND plenty of potential for remarkable resilience and growth if they learn how to manage all the intense forces at play within and around them. The SAIFT program provides an ideal opportunity for teens to develop healthy habits and healthy selves within the context of all-important peer support.
As part of this initiative, I’m working with schools and community centers to organize weekly group meetings where teens will learn and practice a number of different cognitive and experiential exercises to help them increase their self-awareness, self-esteem, self-regulation, and healthy self-expression.
I have been working with the teen population, in a number of different settings, for over 20 years. My creation of the SAIFT program was inspired by the transformations I've witnessed in them, in particular while doing group work. My mission is twofold: to demonstrate to teens that they are not alone with their challenges, and to provide them with the social-emotional education and support they need to best navigate their challenges. I am passionate about bringing this work into the community and impacting as many lives as possible!
